The third phase of our time in Maine was focused on something more personal to us and the area of Belfast. While we were there, a local icon and artist named David McLaughlin passed away just two days after having met us.
David was an extraordinary man. He was an artist, metal fabricator, philosopher, and collector. He was a close friend of Johns and a board member at the Waterfall Art Center where we were stationed.
The news of his sudden death was heavy not only on our hearts, but the hearts of everyone in the community.
His philosophies on life and the arts inspired us to develop a project we call 100 Hammers. The initiative linked above is going to launch soon. Stay tuned.
